“THE BEST PART OF LIFE IS CHILDHOOD” says the sign.
AYUTLAG, MIXE VILLAGE IN THE MOUTAINS OF OAXACA
A Social Center, solely operated by volunteers and founded mostly by private funds.
Mainly an architect and his wife from Mexico City DF, who have left everything behind, to help Mixe children, another group of the forgotten Indigenous People from Mexico.
He is adding on, to the center bit by bit, mostly with his own two hands, he also organizes activities with the children such as arts and crafts and chess tournaments.
His wife teaches theater and dance to the children, as well as giving yoga and family therapy classes to the mothers.
The Ayutlag Centro Social, was created to teach the children different skills in a peaceful environment, as well as removing them from the streets where they can become targets of criminality and delinquency.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and faith, the center has grown and is a happy place for children and teenagers of Oaxaca.
The children have pen pals, that help them not only communicate with other children, but share their progress with supporters from far away.
Within the next year, The Daniel Malka Photo Project will also have helped established the Photo Pal system as well as trained many young photographers.
